Making Rainbows 101 Sun (Power) + Water (Emotion) = Rainbow (Promise)

My husband and I have been adding new landscaping to our home. This investment requires a daily devotion to watering for the new plantings to flourish. Each watering method has its pros and cons and is largely a matter of personal style. Exploring the assets and ease of various watering tools, on this particular sunny day, I tried a hose with a spray nozzle. I MADE MY OWN RAINBOW! M*A*G*I*C*A*L I love, love, love rainbows (and unicorns)! It’s not like I was previously unaware of this sun/water phenomenon, but a moment of altered perception made it feel like I was seeing it for the first time. I realized I created this rainbow. It became personal. The watering task turned from a pleasant yet time-consuming obligation to a SACRED moment. I was mesmerized by what I could do; this humble power of creating my own rainbows was an opening to a greater vision, a metaphor for living my life. I proceeded to PLAY – turned the stream on and off and moved the sprayer back and forth watching my rainbow shift in the sunshine and then disappear into the shade. I observed that the red was at the top of the rainbow, the opposite of the human “rainbow bridge” chakra energy center colors in which red is at the bottom of the body. In dream symbolism, a rainbow is a sign that better things are coming, and that beauty is present in the midst of the storm of emotional difficulties. In the Bible, the rainbow represents a promise from God, a heaven-sent sign of hope. Miracles are right here in the little and big things in life, especially when we view the world as child does for the first time, letting go of our preconceived notions and releasing our well-worn expectations. This allows expansiveness to enter into our daily experiences. It can be as simple as opening the mind and playing like a 5 year old with a spray nozzle on a sunny day!! (FYI - I had been resisting using the spray nozzle that my husband kept suggesting, wink, wink!) Enlightenment is an ongoing process and practice. "Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.
